Gabo Trust Scholarships

For students on the MSc in Conservation of Contemporary Art and Media at UCL East

Each academic year, the Gabo Trust awards two scholarships—one to a UK student and one to an overseas student. Each scholarship covers half the tuition fees for the two-year MSc programme.

Current recipients (2025/26):

  • Harper Ladd
A graduate in Art History and Urban Studies from McGill University, Harper is passionate about contemporary art conservation and is honoured to receive the Gabo Trust Scholarship to support her studies at UCL.
  • Jen Black
A graduate in Chemistry at University of Edinburgh, specialising in analytical and materials chemistry, where she was introduced to conservation science and the overlap between chemistry and the conservation of art.

Second-year recipients:

  • Alesia Veremeva
Former Senior Registrar at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow, Alesia has led conservation initiatives and launched Russia’s first contemporary art conservation programme. Her work bridges practical conservation and academic research.
  • Christine Pungong
A Cambridge graduate with experience at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Christine views conservation as a way to amplify overlooked histories. Her commitment to equity in the arts is central to her practice.

Former recipients:

  • Izzy Finlay
A Camberwell graduate and former art handling technician at Tate, Izzy completed a placement at Kunstsammlung Nordrhein Westfalen and is now pursuing a career in museum conservation.
  • Catherine Eloise S. Campos
Former lecturer in Art History at the University of the Philippines, Catherine completed a placement at the National Galleries of Scotland. She aims to develop conservation programmes in regions where such expertise is currently lacking.
